The Hawaiian Humane Society is transforming its signature community celebration and we need your help to make it a success! Our Petwalk fundraising starts now and will end in celebration at PetWalk Paina 2018. This year’s event will take place on the evening of Saturday, October 13, in Kakaako. The walk, beginning and ending at Kolowalu Park adjacent to South Shore Market, will be just part of a Ward Village block party complete with food and entertainment. Create your own fundraising page here and join us for pet-owner lookalike and people-pet costume contests and other festivities in what is certain to be an evening to remember. For more information or to volunteer at the event, please email Sharon at sgsagayadoro@hawaiianhumane.org

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Wes Koga and San-de, Pet Visitation Team Volunteers

Wes Koga has been a Hawaiian Humane Society volunteer for seven years.  As Joy Ambassadors, Wes and San-de visit the residents at The Plaza at Moanalua and attend emergency preparedness fairs throughout the state. Wes delights in dressing up San-de for different events  Crowds are drawn to the Hawaiian Humane Society's booth to play with the 7-year-old pup and they stay to get essential information about disaster preparedness from Wes.  Aside from serving as San-de’s costume designer, Wes’s favorite things about volunteering with the Hawaiian Humane Society are meeting new people and bringing joy to students when he and San-de visit schools.

The Hawaiian Humane Society is an education and advocacy organization that shelters, protects, rescues, reunites and rehomes animals. It is Oahu's only open-admission shelter that welcomes all animals. Established in 1883, this non-profit organization is not a chapter of any group as there is no national humane society. Gifts made directly to this independent, local organization help local animals and people. Visit HawaiianHumane.org to learn more.
