Kitten season will soon be upon us!  This is the time of year when the days are longer and cats have more time to breed. During this time, the shelter sees a rise in the arrival of homeless kittens, especially from the Free-Roaming population that have not been spayed/neutered.  One way to reduce the overwhelming amount of kittens in our community is to spay/neuter your own cat and encourage others to do the same.

To prepare for kitten season, the Society is assembling kits to help community members care for young kittens until they are old enough for spay/neuter surgery and adoption. If you have family and friends who may be interested in helping the Society with kitten season, pet nursing bottles and kitten replacement formula are needed for the kitten kits. Donations can be made on campus, or through our Amazon Wish List at: HawaiianHumane.org/WishList.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Vivian Diaz

It's almost 6 pm on a weeknight, and while most of us are headed home for dinner, Vivian Diaz is just clocking in for her evening volunteer shift at the Hawaiian Humane Society.  You'll find Vivian on campus most weeknights doing laundry in the Admissions building or reading and relaxing with our dogs.  She also helps with off-site adoption events on the weekends.  Vivian has volunteered with the Hawaiian Humane Society since 2015 and has contributed to almost 2,000 volunteer hours! When Vivian is not volunteering, she likes to spend time with her daughter and grandson at home.  She says that her favorite thing about volunteering is making new friends with the incoming dogs in the Admissions Center when she's doing laundry.

WISHLIST
