The Hawaiian Humane Society's Pet Food Bank was created to offer temporary assistance to families and their pets in need.  The program has helped thousands of pets and their people since its inception in 2010.  The Society has distributed over 3700 pounds of cat and dog food in 2018 so far.  Our Pet Food Bank relies solely on community donations.  Help animals in need across Oahu by dropping off a bag of unopened, unexpired pet food at the Hawaiian Humane Society.  Supplies can be brought to the donation shed located in the Society's front parking lot or the Admissions Center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Deena Gary, Paws on the Path Hike Lead

Paws on the Path is Hawaiian Humane Society's monthly hiking club.  We meet every last Saturday of the month, for community members and their pets to enjoy adventures on Oahu's beautiful hiking trails.  If you have been on any of these hikes, chances are you've met our volunteer hike lead, Deena Gary.  Her first Paws on the Path hike was on Halloween 3 years ago, where Deena and her friends dressed up as dogs. She says, "I thought this would be a great opportunity for my dog and I to volunteer together while doing something we both love, hiking."  Deena currently works in natural resources, specializing in the conservation of rare and endangered snails found only on Oahu. Her dog Murray was adopted from the Hawaiian Humane Society and she also has a Sulcata tortoise named Yoda and 3 red ear slider turtles.  Join Deena and the rest of our Paws on the Path team on our next hike!

WISHLIST

Our Pet Food Bank is low on supply for cat and dog food.  We are also looking for donations of small animal clips for our feeders, small animal chews, turtle tanks, turtle tank water filters (and sponge parts for the filter), snack-sized Ziploc bags and cat tactile brushes.  Donations can be dropped off at the shed outside of the old Admissions Center, at the Admissions Center or ordered through our Amazon wishlist using AmazonSmile.

Help support our friends on the Big Island! Hawaii Island Humane Society is in need of large and extra-large dog crates and airline carriers to help with pets and people affected by the volcanic eruptions in Puna. Drop off any new or gently-used crates and carriers at the Hawaiian Humane Society's Admission Center 24 hours a day. We will be collecting and shipping the containers to Hawaii Island. The Hawaiian Humane Society is an education and advocacy organization that shelters, protects, rescues, reunites and rehomes animals. It is Oahu's only open-admission shelter that welcomes all animals. Established in 1883, this non-profit organization is not a chapter of any group as there is no national humane society. Gifts made directly to this independent, local organization help local animals and people. Visit HawaiianHumane.org to learn more.
