The Hawaiian Humane Society has over 30 programs and services available to the community. Each of them are to help people and pets live engaging, fulfilling lives.

Since it's inception in 2010, Hawaiian Humane’s Pet Food Bank has helped thousands of pets and their people by providing pet food to those who may be unable to feed even themselves. This includes people on any form of government assistance, such as individuals who are unemployed or homeless, as well as those in need of temporary assistance. The Society always welcomes donations to the pet food bank, which can be dropped off to the Hawaiian Humane Society 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All brands and types of pet food are accepted, as long as they are unopened and unexpired.

The presence of pets helps reduce anxiety and improves overall well-being. Through Hawaiian Humane’s pet visitation program, pet-people teams go out into the community to make visits to our program partners; This includes hospitals, hospice, assisted living and schools. The Society is currently in need of more teams to spread the joy of the human-animal bond to program partners islandwide. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be able to commit to one visit per month for at least six months.

Hawaiian Humane Society’s free monthly hike club, Paws on the Path, meets the last Saturday of every month to explore new pet-friendly trails on Oahu. Hikes vary in length and difficulty, so there’s an adventure for everyone. Hiking can be time well spent outdoors with your family and pets, but always be cautious and be sure to bring plenty of water for you and your animals and ensure pets stay on leash. Signs of pet overheating should also be watched for.
