Society Updates

Did you know!?

The Hawaiian Humane Society marked its 136th year on July 24. The Society is the second oldest non-profit in Hawaii and one of the oldest animal welfare organizations in the nation!

King David Kalakaua

Organized in 1883, the Hawaiian Humane Society was started by a group of 350 concerned citizens, one of which was King David Kalakaua.

Helen Kinau Wilder

In 1897, Helen Kinau Wilder was deputized and given the authority to enforce animal cruelty laws in the Republic of Hawaii.

We just launched our biggest annual community event of the year, which brings together thousands of people and pets to celebrate the human-animal bond!

This year's PetBlock Paina will include food vendors, pet-related retail and the Golden Road Brewery Beer Garden.

PetBlock Paina 2019
Sunday, October 13, from 5 to 8 pm
Victoria Ward Park (Located in Ward Village)

Help the cause!

Help us spread the word by creating an individual fundraising page to share with friends, family or any other animal lovers you know. Participation is optional, but there are great new incentives this year.

Win prizes!

We'll be giving away gift cards ranging from $50 to $100 and a two-night staycation at the Aqua-Aston Hotel to volunteers that participate. For full event details, visit HawaiianHumane.org/PetBlockPaina.

Signing up is easy!

Set up your fundraising page at HawaiianHumane.org/PetBlockPaina

Volunteers do NOT need to pay the $25 registration fee when setting up pages.

If you're having trouble with your page set-up, check with Alysa, the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator. Use Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari as your web browser when registering. Internet Explorer users may receive an error message.

All volunteers who complete setting up their pages by August 15 will receive a free PetBlock Paina 2019 T-shirt.

Interested in volunteering for the event?

Because PetBlock Paina is one of our largest fundraisers we will need volunteers for many roles ranging from set-up, manning booths, breakdown and many more. Stay tuned to learn more about volunteer roles needed. If you are interested in volunteering, email astratman@hawaiianhumane.org.
